About Us

The owners Alan and Diana, bought the property in 2009.  Originally two quarrymen's cottages for the nearby quarry (now a lake), it required extensive renovation and rebuilding in parts.  Alan (a builder) with considerable experience of working on barns and historic churches, within Dartmoor National Park and the surrounding area, spent five years renovating it, using reclaimed products wherever possible, whilst Diana (a nurse) spent five years treating the various injuries sustained, and generally offering counselling and reassurance that it would one day be completed!

Love-Lee Little Cottage

Love-Lee Little cottage, an annexe to the main house was originally thought to be a scullery and pig sty, but research has uncovered that the 'pig-sty' was in fact a large water tank, which would have held water, pumped up from the river.

This has been renovated to provide an unusual rustic retreat, with its own private entrance and all the necessary features of modern living to ensure a comfortable stay.  The quirky mezzanine bedroom, kitchen, and even the bed itself has been hand crafted with reclaimed wood from the cottage and surrounding area, to offer a unique and characterful space.  New for 2019 - Hand crafted Romany caravan now completed, for guests exclusive use on the private river bank.
